Bar owner Jittra Nawamawat and one of her showgirls continue practising to get ready for Thailand’s coronavirus restrictions to lift so tourists can return to their nightclub in Bangkok’s famous red-light district of Patpong. But it remains unclear when they will welcome guests again, because while Thailand will start to welcome international travellers again from July 1, 2020, nightlife venues have been told they will be among the last businesses to reopen. Many expect the Covid-19 pandemic to have a lasting effect on red-light districts, bars and clubs which have been closed since mid-March, with some gone for good.
