Episode 13: Japan Part One
After a day or so in Kuala Lumpur I headed towards Japan. I was extremely excited about this particular location because I had always dreamed of visiting Tokyo.
After a few hour flight I finally arrived in Narita. It is where most international flights end up. And it is where I was able to sign up with my Japan Rail Pass.
Luckily trains basically run all day so its not an issue finding one. However, it can be pretty tricky at first. And if you decide to go out there I suggest sitting down with someone who’s gone before. There are a lot of small things I wish I would’ve known ahead of time that would’ve saved me time or money.
Anywayz… Its about an hour train ride from Narita to Tokyo. Once there its a lovely city filled with tall buildings and bustling people. Even at night time there is still TONS of people all over the place.
Since I was just coming from all of these warm weather countries, like an idiot I was wearing shorts and flip flops. So needless to say I was freezing my ass off. It wasn’t like 20 below or anything but after spending 4 weeks in hot humid weather. It felt like I was gonna die!(a little dramatic, Whatevs!)
I found a hotel not to far away. They offer hostels and hotels just like any foreign country does. However, I found these things called capsules and god damn they are pretty cool. Its basically like this small one person cubed box. You get a tv, plug ins on the wall, use of the bathrooms/showers. And its pretty inexpensive… getting one of these bad boys when traveling solo is the way to go.
Only ended up staying in Tokyo for one night, the other day I was way too hungover to move. Then moving on to Kyoto!!!!!!!! That will be Episode 13 Part Two!
