Kate Lucas performing stand-up comedy at South Street Comedy club in Jackson, TN.
Up-and-coming comic Kate Lucas has been delighting audiences around the country for five years with an observational style all her own — ascerbic yet silly while tackling topics ranging from the perils of dating to the quadratic formula. Kate is blazing stages with her insightful wit. Hailing from Memphis, TN, Kate has become a regional favorite by performing at such places as Zanies Nashville, Looney Bin Little Rock, and opening for bands such as the Mondophonics and Third Base Ninja.
Lucas’ humor has even gotten the attention of comedic powerhouses Spanky Brown and Kerry White, who have both had her open their shows. She has played Chad Riden’s Iron Comic at Zanie’s in Nashville, and toured with the Funny Bitches! All-female comedy showcase, and has even performed comedy in unlikely locations such as the sidewalk on world-famous Beale Street. She has been a finalist in the Funniest Person in Memphis contest several years running, and a semi-finalist in South Street’s state wide comedy contest.
The first few years, Kate got proactive and set up an open mic at the infamous Memphis Irish bar Murphy’s contributing more stage time to the area. She has also assisted in production for several local theatre companies, and produced several charity shows for families and organizations in need. When she is not touring clubs and dive bars around the country, she resides at home with her daughter, one useless mutt, and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Her favorite color is clear.
